Assisting Hands Home Care Ottawa:

Meet people where they are, with support that fits their lives

Caring, for Adepeju Araoye, comes from the heart. As owner/director of Assisting Hands Home Care Ottawa, her business is to provide personalized support for seniors and individuals with disabilities. But really? It’s more of a calling.

“My journey into caregiving began long before Assisting Hands existed,” she explains. “It started with the challenges my own family faced while caring for my grandmother and later my father before they both passed.

“Navigating their care needs opened my eyes to the gaps and barriers families encounter with the emotional strain, the unpredictability of support and how difficult it can be to find services that are both reliable and respectful.”

Adepeju’s experiences shaped a commitment to making a difference. “Over time, my work in home support, community-based care and client advocacy deepened my passion for helping older adults and individuals with disabilities remain safe, independent and dignified in their own homes.”

More specifically, when caring for her own loved ones, she says, “I saw how overwhelming care can become when services are either too rigid, too expensive or simply not designed for the day-to-day realities families face.

“I realized that people don’t always need long hours of care. Sometimes they just need reliable, compassionate help in small but meaningful moments: A quick meal, a wellness check, support with hygiene or simply companionship. That realization is what led me to launch Assisting Hands Ottawa—to create a service that brings dignity, responsiveness and humanity back into home care.”

For Adepeju Araoye, owner of Assisting Hands Home Care Ottawa, caring comes from the heart.

“Home care doesn’t have to be complicated, overwhelming or financially out of reach.” Adepeju Araoye

Unlike other services, Assisting Hands offers two complementary models to meet the diverse needs of families:

Traditional Home Care

This program encompasses:

-Longer shifts

-Comprehensive personal care and household support

-Consistent caregiver relationships

It’s ideal for individuals with ongoing or complex needs.

CareExpress

Assisting Hands’ new flexible approach, CareExpress was created to fill a gap that traditional home care often cannot. It encompasses:

-Short, affordable visits

-Neighborhood-based caregivers for faster response times

-No long-hour minimums

Designed to complement community and health programs, it’s perfect for quick check-ins or smaller tasks

Together, these services ensure people have access to exactly the amount of help they need—no more, no less. It’s a flexibility that exemplifies Adepeju’s and Assisting Hands Ottawa’s commitment to making support accessible for every type of household.  “This work is deeply personal to me. I know what it’s like to be a family caregiver: The exhaustion, the worry and the desire to do everything possible for someone you love,” she says.

“Every visit, whether 15 minutes or a full shift, is an opportunity to offer kindness and restore dignity. That’s the heart of the work for me.
“We are committed to growing alongside the community and responding to the real needs we see, just as I wished someone could have done for my grandmother and father.” assistinghands.ca
